The Journey, to the essence of self where we welcome you…
The art of Yoga is a spectacular mixture of physical, mental, and spiritual practices that helps in building the perfect coordination of the human soul with the mental, physical, and spiritual elements of the body. Keeping this perfect balance-mix, the stepping stone of Himalayan Yog Ashram Rishikesh was led by Yogi Ram in the year 2012.
Since then, its vision is to create a spiritually empowered, sustainable, and profoundly inspired community. The biggest hindrance of modern-day Yoga Teacher Training misinterprets yoga as only a set of physical exercises to maintain and improve our complete well-being.
Here, at Himalayan Yog Ashram, we truly believe that the Divine art and the science of Yoga is much more than that, as the meaning of yoga can be obtained from various Indian Vedic texts in the form of Sloka (Sanskrit Phrase). Below are a few selected Sloka’s: -
Name of the Vedic Script | Sloka | Meaning |
---|---|---|
According to Maha Upanishad | मनःप्रशमनोपायो योग इत्यभिधीयते॥ | Yoga is the recourse to pacify the mind. |
According to Maharishi Patanjali | ‘योगश्चित्तवृत्तिनिरोधः | Yoga is the art of brining or obtaining perfect coordination between different functions of mind through different patterns (Vrittis) |
According to Bhagwad Geeta | योगः कर्मसु कौशलम् | Yoga is the expertise of doing an action in day-to-day life. |
According to Maharishi Yajnavalkya | संयोग योगयुक्तो इति युक्तो जीवात्मा परमात्मनो। | Yoga is the process to integrate our whole self and to connect with the supreme reality. |
According to Kaivalyo upanishad | श्रद्धा भक्ति ध्यान योगादवेहि | The art of knowing the truth inside ourselves by Bhakti (devotion) and Meditation is known as Yoga. |
The list doesn't end here, and the various other Vedic textbooks also described yoga as the Self-awakening practice that heals and optimizes the interconnection between the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels of an individual to finally expand your consciousness into a state of bliss.
In this journey to obtain complete wellbeing, if you are just learning yoga by doing physical workouts, then you are not getting even half of the authentic yoga wisdom that we share at the Himalayan Yog Ashram, Rishikesh.
Our Ashram is situated in Tapovan, Rishikesh, the Yoga Capital of the World. The place itself has a long ancient history. Tapovan (Sanskrit) comes from the two root words tapas, meaning 'austerity' a profound code of conduct to cultivate (discipline) our true self with a holistic approach, and vana, meaning 'forest' or 'thicket' (as it was). As the essence of the place where one can go through the self-transformation process, which simultaneously takes place with organic energy filled with very subtle charges and beautiful vibes.
It is just not any place for yoga and related practices but just the right balance of natural elements which is present here makes it more profound, where we welcome you to be the part of authentic spiritual and self-transformative retreats with valid and competent tools.
The presence of the ever-flowing Ganges which is the source of divine and beautiful energy, which is also the abode of many great Saint and Yogi, has become the meeting point of different cultures coming from different parts of the world exchanging their enriched and diverse culture which transforms humanity and serves the mankind by exchanging reciprocated wisdom.
