“A true yoga experience”
This ashram is a complete breese of fresh air in the yoga circus Rishikesh has become over the years. Himalayan Yogashram is run by highly motivated professionals under the inspiring leadership of Yogi Ram. In his teachings Yogi Ram follows the ancient tradition of Hatha Yoga. I have deepened my yoga and meditation skills considerably during my stay. The accomodations are excellent, the food is wonderful and the people taking care of you warm and loving. In short: if you want true Yoga teachings, Himalyan Yogashram is a must>
I spent two weeks in November doing the Ashram stay and I can wholeheartedly recommend this place. The ashram is extremely clean and well taken care of and the food is delicious and healthy. The team consists of people with big hearts and a lot of knowledge who like to teach everything they know and who really care about their guests. I liked that I was able to participate in many classes such as yoga, pranayama, philosophy, yoga Nidra and Kirtan. At the same time I still had a lot of free time for myself which I really enjoyed and which is great in order to let everything sink in. The surroundings of the Ashram are beautiful, the nature is breathtaking!
I am so happy I decided to go with Himalayan Yoga Ashram out of all the options available in Rishekesh! I feel like I truly got the answers I was looking for and realized a lot about myself. I was only there for 6 days (If you have the chance I would recommend staying a minimum of 14 days) The meals, the rooms, and the people running the place are truly wonderful. It felt like I was at home. After sometime and practice, I plan on going back to do the teacher training!
"Personalised care and lovely people"
I found this Ashram on a blog where it was praised for its personalised setting, welcoming hosts and delicious food. This is exactly what I got. The ashram only has a few rooms, so you can be sure you won’t be packed in a room full of sweaty people. Also because of its size everyone at the Ashram gets to know you and your specific needs. I felt very much welcomed and cared for. The food is also delicious and the treatments so relaxing!! I guess one thing I’d recommend is to check about noise levels before you book. There seems to be some temporary construction going on in Rishikesh so for some people this might be quite disturbing.
"Best Traditional & Classical Yoga Teacher in Rishikesh"
After spending 1 month at Himalayan Yoga Ashram for 200hr YTT, Classical Eastern Yoga will never be the same for me. Yogi Ram opened a completely new world to me. It's not easy to come across a teacher like this, highly recommend. From Asanas, to Yoga Nidra, to Pranayama... his techniques and style healed me internally, therefore transforming my external world. I'm in Thailand as we speak practices his practical, systematical tools to cultivate a new mind. He is a true practitioner with true wisdom. Thank you Yogi Ram, my deepest gratitude!
"Yoga from the Source"
If you are ready for a deep dive experience into what Yoga truly is, I highly reccommend the YTT at this ashram. It is not a course for everybody -- only if you are prepared to receive teachings that may clash with your beliefs. There is no sugar-coating, no pandering and no patronizing. You will be given the source knowledge of Yoga from the masters of the Himalayan lineage through excellent teachers. Choose this training if you are willing to transform!
"Life changing personal and spiritual growth!"
This ashram is a very special place on the Rishikesh map. It is dedicated for those, who are seriously interested in yoga practice and study. So this is not an entrtaining place focused only on stretching and relaxation. All classes and programs are created for intensive practice and exploration of traditional yoga in all aspects, hence exploration of inner Self. Pranayama, asana, yoga nidra, meditation, chanting; are guided by great teachers under management of Ram, who, beside yoga nidra and meditation, runs philopophy class himself. Contact with Ram is very unique, because he really looks after and he is taking care of every paricipant, especially in the field of self-growth. Additionally there are wonderful and powerful ayurvedic treatments provided. Meals cooked in the ashram are super tasty with deep flavors and well-balanced. Rooms, yoga shala, corridors, dining room are designed with taste. That makes every aspect of living in the ashram so enjoyable. Staying in the ashram, practicing original himalayan yoga, self-contemplating and discussing yoga with Ram but also Teju (runs asana class) made great, unforgetable impact on me!
"A journey deeper into the self"
I did a YTT here. At first I was stunned by pretty much everything about this place, Ram, which runs the place, welcomed me and showed me to my room. He instantly made me feel welcome and seen. The rooms are clean and good, all comforts and unlimited supply of tea (good kinds). Since I was gonna spend a month doing the teacher training it is pretty important that I felt good in the surroundings, which I did. The YTT itself, wow, where to start. It was ALOT more about me then I thought it'd be. At first this bothered me, I wanted more physical asanas and more challenges (pitta). But when I slowly accepted things as they where, I felt that this was, and is, exactly what I needed, and I'd like to go out on a limb and say, what everyone needs. This place will teach you the true meaning of yoga, in all it's aspects. If you want 75% or the course to be asanas you can show-off, this isn't the place for you, but if you want a journey deeper into yourself while learning about yoga, food, the body and much more, it is. Cannot write a review without mentioning; the best yoga teacher (and human being) I've been lucky enough to encounter works and lives here. Teju. Seriously, I spent four months in India, and if all I have to show for it is meeting Teju, it'd be worth it. And you're in luck because he's in charge of Yoga Asanas, Ayurveda & Anatomy.
“A life-changing experience”
Everything about this ashram comes from the heart. The meditations, yoga classes, Ayurvedic treatments and food are all carefully prepared so that each guest in the ashram is fully supported in their healing, learning, and inner process. I stayed for four weeks in this ashram and underwent a personal transformation I did not anticipate or expect. Over the weeks I was presented with countless opportunities to delve deep within myself and look at what I really wanted in life. I feel I have emerged from this place a much steadier, calmer, freer person who is ready to start down the path of their dreams (now I know what they are!).
"Authentic Ashram for those looking to look deeper into themselves"
I did the 2 week Ashram stay and it was a wonderful experience. This is a place for reflection and contemplation guided by Yogi Ram's useful and simple insights. I appreciated the fact that it is a very small place (5 rooms) and that the environment is very homely. The food is simple but delicious. The rooms are very comfortable. The place is very well located with beautiful surroundings, not very far from the Ganga river. I would 100% recommend for someone who is looking to dig deeper into their soul, not so much if you're looking for yoga as physical exercise. Also, don't stay here if you plan to use it as a hotel, the whole purpose of free time is to give space to yourself and let things flow, not to put many activities and walks to the village.
“Transformative journey to the heart”
Exactly the disciplined retreat I was seeking in a wonderfully simple Ashram, which felt both intimate and spacious, allowing me to focus on my 'work' in peace and functional silence. The program truly and deeply restored my internal balance after weeks of challenging travel, equanimity through the teachings, yoga & meditations and digestive health through the Ayurvedic meals, lessons & bodywork.
"A peaceful and beautiful oasis to meet yourself"
I did the yoga teacher training (YTT) in the Himalayan Yoga Ashram and finally spent 5 weeks in this amazing place. My aim was not to have the certificate. I was looking for an Ashram where I have the chance to learn more about the real yogic path and where I find space to contemplate myself. That's exactly what was offered to me. My whole stay has been a deep, inspiring, sometimes challenging and very beautiful experience.
"Authenticity at It's Truest Form"
My friend and I traveled to India for the first time from the United States. We weren't sure what to expect and wanted an authentic ashram experience. After reading rave reviews, we decided to stay at the Himalayan Yoga Ashram. We both were completely blown away by the genuineness of the staff and the experience as a whole. The meditations led by Ram still ring in my ears during my practice at home. I wish he had a Podcast so I could continue to hear his words on a daily basis. His mastery of understanding the challenges of our lives we left at home with career, relationships, family, and self was crucial. Ram is perfect blend of spiritual leader and mentor, while embodying compassion and understanding for a life outside of an ashram in the western world. The staff works together as a team to deliver life changing meditations, food, and a sacred space for connection and healing. This will not be last time visiting!
