Yogi Ram founded Himalayan Yoga Ashram in 2012 and since then it has grown from strength to strength. There have been several learners who began their spiritual journey here and who have found inner enrichment by learning Yoga and following the life lessons taught at the Himalayan Yoga Ashram.
Himalayan Yoga Ashram undertakes Yoga Teacher Training and has in place an Ayurvedic healing program which together bring mental, physical and spiritual benefits to the participants. We also encourage you to discover and make a deep connection with your spiritual core which brings immense peace and joy.
The Ashram is nestled at the foothills of the Himalayas at Rishikesh, and within walking distance of the Holy Ganges. Situated at Tapovan it is a mere stone’s throw away from the famous Laxman Jhula. The Ashram is beautifully built and a gentle breeze blows in from the Ganges, even the in summer! The atmosphere in the Ashram is soothing and tranquil and lends itself to learning, meditation and inner contemplation.
Life at Himalayan Yoga Ashram is guided by our experienced team, under the blessing of our mentor.
"Welcome on the journey of Self cultivation. My passion for the Yogic Path is in my nature, I invite everyone who is willing to reconnect within and to see themselves in totality."
We follow the teachings of our mentor, Swami Hanuman Giri and pursue personal growth according to his philosophy. The aim of the Himalayan Yoga Ashram is to apply the science behind the necessity of Yoga learning in contemporary life. We try to interpret the knowledge of ancient Indian Yogis in the context of our times.
Our aim is to bring to you an immersive experience, where you will learn the physical aspects of yoga, the deep philosophy behind it and spiritual and healing practices within an authentic Ashram lifestyle. We combine two of the most sacred sciences of our heritage, Yoga and Ayurveda, to attain the purity of body, mind and soul.
At the Himalayan Yoga Ashram we work towards offering a transformative life experience through the practice of the unique science of Yoga, under the supervision of our founder
Yogi Ram and his team. Throughout the
Yogi Ram’s Mentor
Swami Hanuman Giri ji is our mentor as he is also Yogi Ram's mentor. Guru ji performed his Sadhana in the deep forest in the high Himalayas for over 35 years. Swami Giri ji’s philosophy is focused on the science of self-realization and his presence in the ashram is a tremendous blessing.
We offer accommodation in private or shared rooms with twin beds. All rooms have a heater, air conditioning, comfortable beds (with duvet in winter), attached private bathrooms with toilet and hot and cold shower. Guests can enjoy the quiet of the ashram’s open space, balconies, and roof terrace. The yoga hall, classroom, kitchen, dining area, and Ayurvedic treatment space are all on site at Himalayan Yoga Ashram.
Our meals are served with love, and are included in all the ashram’s programs. Traditionally we serve vegetarian Ayurvedic meals, but we can accommodate special dietary requirements (e.g.: dairy-free, gluten-free, vegan) upon request. We serve two full meals, brunch and dinner. Fruits and snacks are served during the day, and herbal tea is always available. Our meals are prepared with fresh, safe ingredients and clean filtered water. We follow good hygienic practice for food preparation and conservation.
“A life-changing experience”
Everything about this ashram comes from the heart. The meditations, yoga classes, Ayurvedic treatments and food are all carefully prepared so that each guest in the ashram is fully supported in their healing, learning, and inner process. I stayed for four weeks in this ashram and underwent a personal transformation I did not anticipate or expect. Over the weeks I was presented with countless opportunities to delve deep within myself and look at what I really wanted in life. I feel I have emerged from this place a much steadier, calmer, freer person who is ready to start down the path of their dreams (now I know what they are!).
"Authentic Ashram for those looking to look deeper into themselves"
I did the 2 week Ashram stay and it was a wonderful experience. This is a place for reflection and contemplation guided by Yogi Ram's useful and simple insights. I appreciated the fact that it is a very small place (5 rooms) and that the environment is very homely. The food is simple but delicious. The rooms are very comfortable. The place is very well located with beautiful surroundings, not very far from the Ganga river. I would 100% recommend for someone who is looking to dig deeper into their soul, not so much if you're looking for yoga as physical exercise. Also, don't stay here if you plan to use it as a hotel, the whole purpose of free time is to give space to yourself and let things flow, not to put many activities and walks to the village.
“Transformative journey to the heart”
Exactly the disciplined retreat I was seeking in a wonderfully simple Ashram, which felt both intimate and spacious, allowing me to focus on my 'work' in peace and functional silence. The program truly and deeply restored my internal balance after weeks of challenging travel, equanimity through the teachings, yoga & meditations and digestive health through the Ayurvedic meals, lessons & bodywork.
"A peaceful and beautiful oasis to meet yourself"
I did the yoga teacher training (YTT) in the Himalayan Yoga Ashram and finally spent 5 weeks in this amazing place. My aim was not to have the certificate. I was looking for an Ashram where I have the chance to learn more about the real yogic path and where I find space to contemplate myself. That's exactly what was offered to me. My whole stay has been a deep, inspiring, sometimes challenging and very beautiful experience.
"Authenticity at It's Truest Form"
My friend and I traveled to India for the first time from the United States. We weren't sure what to expect and wanted an authentic ashram experience. After reading rave reviews, we decided to stay at the Himalayan Yoga Ashram. We both were completely blown away by the genuineness of the staff and the experience as a whole. The meditations led by Ram still ring in my ears during my practice at home. I wish he had a Podcast so I could continue to hear his words on a daily basis. His mastery of understanding the challenges of our lives we left at home with career, relationships, family, and self was crucial. Ram is perfect blend of spiritual leader and mentor, while embodying compassion and understanding for a life outside of an ashram in the western world. The staff works together as a team to deliver life changing meditations, food, and a sacred space for connection and healing. This will not be last time visiting!
